Buying and Trading Guidelines
Buying/Trading Begins @ 12pm
Monday, Tuesday, and Select Saturdays
As of October 1st, we will start buying at 12pm Monday, Tuesday, and select Saturdays TBA on our website, twitter, and facebook page. We will buy and trade items for as long as our budget and ability to process all of the items for sale will allow. As always, buying and trading is done on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will try to stretch our daily buying budget as far as it will go. Because we will only being buying on Mondays and Tuesdays, we hope to make the budget last considerably longer than it has been lasting.
When we begin buying at 12pm, we offer cash up front or store credit until we reach our cash budget. Then we continue to offer store credit until we reach our inventory limit. Once we reach our daily inventory limit, we stop buying and trading altogether.
We retail our recycled clothing for about 20-30 percent of its original retail value, depending on style and condition. For vintage clothing, we retail our items at roughly one half of the ebay or etsy price for similar items. We can offer you 25% of our retail value for your clothes in cash up front or 65% of our retail value for your clothes in store credit that doesn’t expire (good for any item in the shop except for paintings).
If you do not want to have to wait in line on a busy day just to find out that we can’t sell anything you’ve brought to us, come by after 3pm but before 5pm any day and have us look at your clothes and we can tell you if we need any of what you have.
You may call ahead before you bring in your clothes. We will tell you—to the best of our knowledge—if we have cash or store credit left, and what type of items we need most on that day.
Please bring clothes in season, in good condition, clean and up to 25 items only per person per day. We do not have a cleaning facility. We do not repair damaged items. We buy clothes to turn over in a week. We have the 25 item per person per day rule to give everyone a fair chance at selling or trading with us that day.
Any items we do not offer to buy or trade, you may leave to donate to the Gear Foundation, a local non-profit organization. The Gear foundation runs Our Thrift Store in Franklin, TN. They are really nice and local, they hire people who have a hard time finding jobs due to disabilities, and since it is non-profit, your donation is tax deductible. You should consider donating to the Gear Foundation to support your community. Ask a Clothing Xchange employee for a brochure on The Gear Foundation.
